We are proud to introduce a dedicated page on our website where you can read the faith testimonies of our advisors. These personal stories highlight how our faith influences our approach to financial planning and our commitment to serving our clients with compassion and integrity. We believe that sharing these testimonies can provide a deeper understanding of our values and how they shape our practice.
JOE YOUNG'S FAITH TESTIMONY
My faith journey started at an early age. I was reared in a Christian home with parents and grandparents that taught me Bible stories, took me to church, and modeled how to show God’s love to other people. I professed faith in Jesus and was baptized at Jasper First Baptist Church at age 9. I was active in church youth group and FCA in high school. While attending college at UGA, I was active in the Baptist Student Union and a leader on the ministry team. I met my future wife one Sunday morning in September of my freshman year at Milledge Avenue Baptist Church. I later proposed marriage to her just over two years later on the same pew where we met.
Following our graduation and subsequent marriage, Vickie and I moved to Columbus and became active members of Columbus First Baptist Church. The church ordained me as a Deacon when I was 27. The laying on of hands ceremony portion of the ordination service remains one of my all-time favorite moments in my faith journey. Other times I’ve felt particularly close to God were during the times leading up to and following the births of my two daughters. My wife and I have been blessed to see both of them profess their personal faith in Jesus and receive a believer’s baptism. I know that I’m an imperfect husband and father, but I pray that my family will always know how much I love them and how much God loves them.
I’ve never felt the call to preach, but I believe God calls all Christians to full-time ministry in whatever circumstances we find ourselves. I’ve always viewed serving as a financial advisor as a calling and form of ministry, as I have been entrusted with incredible responsibility to provide wise counsel to individuals and families regarding decisions impacting their lives as well as future generations and the communities in which they live.
One of my favorite passages of scripture that I have adopted as my life verse is Philippians 4:4-8. The New International Version of the Bible translates the passage as, “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things.”
RYNE STOKES' FAITH TESTIMONY
I was so blessed to be raised in a Christian home to a family where faith in God was modeled and involvement in the local church was prioritized. I recognized my sin and need of a savior at the age of 8 years old and was baptized shortly after. Growing up, my family was very involved in our home church, serving in a variety of different ways. At the age of 12, I began to play guitar and help accompany the other musicians and singers during our corporate worship services. Around that same time, I started playing for weekly chapel services at the private Christian school I attended. It wasn’t too long after that where I began helping lead and plan those services which were mostly student led.
I moved to Columbus during my sophomore year of college after 6 months of long distance dating the girl who would eventually become my wife. I continued to help lead worship through a weekly college Bible study and on Sunday mornings at the church we attended. Shortly after our wedding, Laura and I joined CrossPointe Church and immediately began serving in various ways. That was where the Lord allowed me to be part of a community of believers, and men in particular, that helped to spark an interest in learning more about biblical theology and biblical manhood which helped to advance my sanctification and deepen my love for His church. In the summer of 2018, my family helped to plant MidTree Church in Harris County, Georgia where we continue to serve in a variety of ways.
If you were to ask me when I was younger what I wanted to be when I grew up, a financial advisor was not on the list. However, I am so thankful that the Lord placed this calling on my life and directed my steps toward that career path. After having the opportunity to serve as a dedicated advisor to people, many of whom have become like family to me, I have come to understand that this is just as much of a ministry as serving full time in the local church. Walking alongside people through the delights and difficulties of life as it relates to their money and finances is a privilege that I do not take lightly. One of my favorite scriptures is found in Philippians 2:3-8 which says, “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking on the form of servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”
